Macclesfield Town are delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Yates as new first-team manager. Mark joins the Football Club from National League Solihull Moors and has signed a three-year deal with the Silkmen.

48-year-old Yates joins after an incredible season with Solihull Moors, which saw him pull off a great escape after arriving with the club adrift at the bottom of the National League in November.

Yates, who as a player enjoyed a career with the likes of Burnley and Birmingham, has also had successful spells in charge of Kidderminster, Cheltenham and Crawley is excited about his new position.

Macclesfield can look forward to joining Chesterfield in non-league next season. No money, Askey gone to Shrewsbury, lost most of their team except Danny Whitaker, teetered along the edge of a financial cliff all last season, and now they've got Mark Yates whose pudding sounds as though is being somewhat over-egged taking over in a pretty impossible position.

He seems a decent bloke who was a whole-hearted player, but he's a good bet for the sack as are Silkmen for a very quick return to the wilderness.
