Burnley have signed Paris-Saint Germain goalkeeper Denis Franchi on a three-year deal.

The 19-year-old Italy Under-20 international spent three years with the French side but did not feature for their first team.

Boss Vincent Kompany told the club website: 'We're very pleased to welcome Denis to the squad.

"He's an exciting young goalkeeper with a strong calibre of experience at a young age."

Franchi is the second keeper signed by Championship side Burnley this season, with Arijanet Muric joining from Manchester City last month.

Burnley have made two deadline-day loan signings - striker Halil Dervisoglu on a season-long loan deal from Premier League side Brentford and Jordan Beyer from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Beyer, 22, makes his second loan move, after joining Hamburg in January 2020.

Dervisoglu, 22, came through Sparta Rotterdam's academy, playing 60 times before joining the Bees in July 2019.

He has had two top-flight loan spells in recent seasons at Dutch side FC Twente and Galatasaray in Turkey.

Dervisoglu made his Premier League debut for Brentford in August.

He came on as a substitute against Leicester City, while he also featured in the Carabao Cup against Colchester at the end of August.

Burnley have signed Sweden defender Hjalmar Ekdal for an undisclosed fee on a four-and-a-half year contract.

The 24-year-old 6ft 2in centre-back has moved from Swedish top-flight side Djurgardens IF to become Clarets boss Vincent Kompany's second January window signing.

"Burnley and Kompany have done amazing things so far this season," Ekdal said.

"It's something I really wanted to be a part of. It feels really good."

Stockholm-born Ekdal has won three full caps for his country, the most recent against Finland in the Algarve on 9 January - his first game since Swedish football shut down for its winter break in November.

He moved to Djurgardens from fellow Swedish top-flight side Hammarby IF in January 2021.

His arrival follows that of fellow defender Ameen Al-Dakhil from Belgian side Sint-Truidense VV, also for an undisclosed fee.

Burnley sit five points clear at the top of the Championship - and 19 clear of third-placed Watford - after their Friday night win at home to West Bromwich Albion.

Burnley have completed the signing of Michael Obafemi from fellow Championship club Swansea City.

The Republic of Ireland striker, 22, has moved to Turf Moor on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer.

He scored 15 goals in 52 appearances for the Swans, who signed him from Southampton in August 2021.

"I'm glad to be here. I am just glad that it's finally done now," Obafemi told Burnley's website.

The Championship leaders attempted to sign the Dubliner during the summer transfer window and maintained their interest.

He added: "When I first heard of Burnley's interest in the summer I was adamant to come here."
