They scraped under it purely due to the Lallana windfall. If Liverpool hadn't signed him for as much as they did they'd have been done like Leeds, Forest, QPR (when they come back down) etc and they know it.
They haven't had the 2014 accounts put on line yet. They've likely spent far more in 3-4 seasons than Deano has spent since he took over. Turnover in 2012 was £4 million and £5 million in 2013. They lost over £5 million in 2012 too which is roughly when the Russian chap stepped in with a wad of cash to burn. They were bumbling along making small losses up to then (a bit like we were under Davy).
Town's turnover in 2011 & 12 (last in League 1 for comparison) were £8 million and £7.5 million, with losses each year of £4 million and £6 million. for 13 & 14 our turnover was around £11 million both seasons with losses of £4 million and £6.7 million so any thoughts that they are a small club working on a level playing field with us and only spending what they earn are blown right out of the water there.
Good coach ?(yes)
Working to a small budget - my arris.
For their fans I hope Ruski is willing to continue to burn his stash rather than do what the Oystons did at Blackpool when they went up, calling all their 'loans' back in and spending nothing on the team. Time will tell.
