Gianluigi Buffon - turkeydinner - 11-05-2018

This weeks Coppa Italia win with Juventus beating AC Milan 4-0 is probably the last match of Gianluigi Buffon`s Juventus and maybe football career

Given his performance in the final which has showed the distance in greatness between Buffon and Milan`s highly touted Donarumma and that he is still being called up for the Azurri despite retiring maybe this Summer will see a new contract even happen ?

Max Allegri highly linked with the Arsenal vacancy stormed out a press conference after being asked by Rai Sport if this could be the end of an era with goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon likely to retire and Stephan Lichtsteiner set to depart

Hell of a goalkeeper IMO, OK he`s a dead ringer for Al Pacino but better by far than impressive Giovanni Galli, Angelo Peruzzi, Walter Zenga, Gianluca Pagluca or dare I say it Dino Zoff

Fine goalkeeper.

It's a shame Marco isn't still around. He wrote quite a bit about him.

Donnarumma started very well and has got some minutes under his belt, but this season he has been looking increasingly limited; I always thought the comparison flattered him, and the amount it does grows and grows.

Juventus are looking at Mattia Perin of Genoa as backup to Sczeszny (sp?) next season.

And Gigi.

I honestly think he is the greatest footballer who has ever lived. To be the best at your position for as long as he has is utterly astounding, and he has barely dropped off in level as his age advanced.

I still think Milan's legendary ex player, Paulo Maldini, would push Gigi for that honour although Maldini obviously not a goalie but one of the great Italian defenders and his longevity at such a high standard of footie was just as impressive. Both great players and legends in their own right!

Amazing goalkeeper, what a career he has had.

Juventus signed Mattia Perin from Genoa for 10.5M it`s not going to be easy for Sczcesny!

Perin is probably the Italy no1 at this time, very reliable and dare I say Juve have got a steal here other clubs take notice about bargains!

I will always put Perin over Donnarumma and he really should be Italy’s number 1. You only have to look at Donnarumma this season for Milan and his lack of composure on the ball and proneness to mistakes.

The fee for Perin is incredible. 10.5 million euros really is a steel because he’s easily worth more than that. So now Juventus have two of the best keepers in the country whilst Napoli still need to replace Reina and Roma could lose Allisson.
